Bring a Banner!

Assembly voting members are asked to bring a banner that is currently being used in their congregation to be displayed in the assembly hall during the weekend to give attendees a visual reminder of all of the congregations in the Southeastern Synod. A banner that has the congregation’s name on it would be ideal, but any banner that symbolizes your congregation will be greatly appreciated. Please remember a banner stand and pole for display, as we cannot hang items on the walls of the assembly hall.  Make sure all items are well marked with congregation name.

Photo Contest

Our Evangelism Strategy Team is making a banner for the Churchwide Assembly and assembly attendees are invited to participate in a photo contest!

Think about the theme “Lutherans Invite”.  Let us show people, in concrete ways, how Lutherans Invite. Take a picture of your idea and submit your entry.  Winning photos will be used in the logo of the “Lutherans Invite” banner, which the Southeastern Synod voting members will display at the 2007 Churchwide Assembly.  Winners will be recognized at the June 2007, Southeastern Synod Assembly.

TO BE ELECTED AT THE 2007 ELCA-SOUTHEASTERN SYNOD ASSEMBLY

SYNOD BISHOP

Click here for information about the 2007 Southeastern Synod Election of Bishop.

6-year term (eligible for re-election) The Bishop of the Southeastern Synod is elected by ecclesiastical ballot at the synod assembly. This allows each assembly voting member to nominate a candidate for the office of synod bishop. Ecclesiastical balloting is done by writing in the name of the candidate on the ballot paper provided at the assembly. All ELCA pastors are eligible for nomination, regardless of which synod they are currently rostered in. Biographical forms will only be required of nominees who reach the third ballot. Click here for a sample Biographical form. Nominees for Bishop need not fill out a Nomination Form.

SYNOD TREASURER

An election for Synod Treasurer will take place at the 2007 Southeastern Synod Assembly. The term of office is four years in length, beginning September 1, 2007 and ending August 31, 2011. The incumbent, Dennis Wieckert, is not eligible to serve another term. Your assistance is needed in identifying qualified candidates for this position.

The office of Treasurer is a volunteer position that requires the flexibility to attend several Synod Council meetings, all or a portion of the Synod Assembly and at least one Budget and Finance meeting, most often in the metro-Atlanta area.

Thank you for helping identify potential nominees for this important leadership position within our synod.

If you would like to discuss the nomination process for Treasurer, please contact Mr. Dennis Wieckert at (404) 817-5769 or dennis.wieckert@ey.com.
