A Message from the Southeastern Synod Advocacy Team

August 26, 2016
By Hilton Austin Jr.

As you may or may not know, there were several exciting things that happened at Synod Assembly concerning the Southeastern Synod Advocacy Team.
First, many voting members stopped by our exhibit and signed up to join our efforts to restore and reconcile our world through faithful advocacy.
Second, John Johnson, ELCA Program Director of Domestic Policy, announced that we have been selected to receive a $30,000 grant this year, followed by $20,000 grants in 2017 and 2018.
Third, the voting members unanimously voted to approve a resolution concerning congregational advocacy.  A copy of resolution 2016-06 may be found here.
Our team appreciates the many people who came by to talk with us about our work. We are thankful for the grant that will help promote the work we will do together in the future; and we are thankful for the support of the Assembly.
We look forward to working with the congregations of the Southeastern Synod to inform, inspire, empower and support your work to restore and reconcile our world by advocating for Public Policy that represents our Lutheran values. A bulletin insert about the Southeastern Synod Advocacy will be provided to your congregation in the near future.

Some people are clear about their interests and skill sets and will quickly identify how they can contribute; others may be unsure where their passion lies or how their personal gifts might make a difference. No matter which group you find yourself, we ask that you prayerfully consider how God might be calling you to take action in this important work.
