Responsibilities of the Budget & Finance Committee, as described in the synod bylaws, are to:

  1. prepare and present a comprehensive income and expense budget to the Synod Council for its consideration and presentation to the Synod Assembly;adhere to the financial
  2. reporting system established by the ELCA;
  3. create and administer a consistent system of financial reporting from congregations to this synod;
  4. provide budgetary and financial advice to institutions related to this synod, upon the request of such institutions;
  5. devise and make available an internal audit procedure for organizations, institutions, and congregations of this synod, upon the request of such institutions;
  6. secure appropriate legal documentation for the financial and property affairs of this synod;
  7. obtain and administer insurance programs for this synod (other than life and health insurance) and assist congregations in securing insurance coverage upon request;
  8. serve as a resource for all elements of this synod regarding financial matters; and 
  9. perform such other duties on financial matters as may be requested.
