Workshop Descriptions
Here are some of the workshops that will be available at the 2021 Synod Leadership Convocation.  More descriptions will be added as they are made available:

All Creation Sings
Deacon Jennifer Baker-Trinity - Program Director for Resource Development, a shared position between the ELCA (Office of the Presiding Bishop) and Augsburg Fortress.

This workshop will introduce you All Creation Sings, the newly published supplement to Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Presenters Jennifer Baker-Trinity and John Weit will take you on a brief tour of this resource, exploring its three liturgical settings, prayer resources, and its collection of two hundred hymns and songs. We look forward to helping you discover how this resource can enrich your assembly's worship.

Disaster Ministry and Emotional Spiritual Care
Pr. Morgan Gordy – Assistant to the Bishop for Disaster Response, Southeastern Synod

With the increase of intensity, frequency and unpredictability of disaster activity in the synod, the church is called to be a beacon of hope, help and healing. This conversation will focus on attending to emotional spiritual care needs after a disaster and helping congregations become more resilient and prepared to serve their communities.

Growing Latinx Ministry Affinity Group
Pr. Justin Eller – Assistant to the Bishop for Latinx Ministry Strategies, Southeastern Synod

So you think you want to engage in Latinx Ministry?! Join the conversation about how to start, grow, and accompany ministry to, with, and among Latinx people and communities.  This group will be a primer for future conversations, ideas, and resource sharing.

Learning Liturgical Spanish Workshop
Pr. Justin Eller – Assistant to the Bishop for Latinx Ministry Strategies, Southeastern Synod

Join us for a lively and interactive session to learn liturgical Spanish as we explore a new holy communion setting in All Creation Sings! We will practice reading, pronunciation, and key elements in the liturgy so that our welcome in worship can include even more people and communities! This workshop will be a primer for future Spanish classes for rostered ministers and congregational leaders.

Telling Our Stories
Pr. Patti Axel – Assistant to the Bishop and Director for Evangelical Mission, Southeastern Synod

Storytelling as a gift and tool for robust stewardship:  I give because . . . is a way to start sharing your story of Abundance and Gratitude.  That's not the only way to get a conversation going.  Come join us; think about your stewardship story and share ideas with your siblings in ministry and Christ's kin-dom. Learn some new techniques, hear others' stories and tell your own. See you at Convo!
Tell your story - enter for your chance at a stewardship door prize.  Got ya wondering?  Good - Come and See

What are the steps to building a sustainable antiracism curriculum within your congregation?
Pr. Ron Bonner – Pastor, Redeemer, Atlanta, GA

Why do we even need to address this issue in the “Church?” In an effort to address how we are “Equipping, Empowering, and Engaging congregations in the work of racial justice within your congregation and community.” Pastor Ronald Bonner will offer several suggestions from Jemar Tisby’s book How To Fight Racism, some ELCA resources, and personal study and involvement.
