“Unmute Yourself: Proclaim the Love of God to all the World”

The Southeastern Synod will gather for Assembly back in Chattanooga at the Chattanooga Convention Center, June 3-5, 2022. We will be welcoming Bishop Leila Ortiz, Bishop of the Metropolitan Washington DC Synod as our keynoter and Deacon John Weit, Assistant to the Presiding Bishop and Executive for Worship of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, as our Churchwide Representative.

During the Assembly, we will be electing a Vice President of the Synod. The Synod Vice President is elected for a four-year term and must be a voting member of a congregation of this synod. Nominations for the Synod Vice President Position can be found on the Synod Assembly page of the Synod’s website.  All nominees are required to submit to a criminal background check and will be asked to present a short (5 minutes or less) speech during the 2022 Synod Assembly.  The current Vice President, Mr. Imran Siddiqui, is eligible for re-election.

We will also be electing 2 At Large Positions to Synod Council. These positions on Synod are not geographically limited to a conference. At this assembly, we will elect one Rostered Minister At-Large Position and One Lay Member position for a two-year term and those nominated must be a voting member of a congregation of this synod.

In addition to the Vice President position and the At-Large Position to Synod Council, we will be electing a Young Adult Member on Synod Council. The Young Adult Member (man, woman, other) must be between the ages of 18-30 years of age at the election and is elected to a two-year term on Synod Council.

ALL NOMINATIONS CAN BE SUBMITTED HERE.

During this assembly, we will also be dealing with other business of the Assembly and having the opportunity to grow in our discipleship through worship and workshops.

If the test result is positive, for your safety and the safety of others please do not travel to the Assembly. Please bring your proof of a negative test result with you to show at registration.
  3. If at registration, individuals are unable to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test, they will be asked to receive a rapid test before they can be registered. Proof of a negative test will need to be presented to register.

If a person tests positive for COVID before or during the event or if they begin to exhibit COVID symptoms, even if vaccinated, we ask that the individual isolate in their hotel room until they depart or until they receive a negative COVID test. All voting members, visitors, or those physically in the Chattanooga Convention Center for any of the agenda of the Assembly, workshops, worship, or fellowship gatherings are required to be masked, in appropriate facemasks, with the masks covering both the nose and mouth. If attending an event with food, participants are asked to only remove masks while eating or drinking and being mindful of social distancing.
  6. Speakers on the dais, worship leaders, and musicians are not required to wear masks while they are speaking or singing. Adequate space will be given between them and the gathered assembly to provide for safety. Speakers at microphones in the plenary sessions will be asked to remain masked.
