In 2016 and 2017, Hattiesburg, MS experienced significant flooding as a result of torrential rainfall (2016) and Hurricane Harvey (2017), as well as a tornado in 2016. As a result, long-term disaster recovery efforts are underway in Hattiesburg and surrounding communities. The Southeastern Synod has partnered with the Long Term Recovery Organization, R3SM, to house volunteers and organize and oversee work crews to assist with this long-term recovery work.
To schedule a volunteer team to work in Hattiesburg, contact the Rev. Morgan Gordy, Synod Disaster Ministry Volunteer and Program Coordinator.
