The Bishop and Synod Council is pleased to announce the availability of the COVID-19 Grant to address the immediate financial need of a small number of congregations in the Southeastern Synod. The COVID-19 Pandemic has eliminated communal gatherings for worship and fellowship, directly impacting the giving patterns of members and leaving some congregations in precarious financial situations. Since the salary and benefits of the rostered ministers are often the biggest line item in the budget of especially our smaller congregations, this program is intended to subsidize the salary and benefits with grants aimed to keep the rostered minister employed at the current congregation with their full salary and benefits.
This grant program is financed primarily through the Strategic Initiative Fund of the Southeastern Synod, a fund created from the holy closures of generous congregations who have faithfully given life to future ministries in our synod. Other monies are provided by the ELCA COVID-19 Fund.
These grants are not intended to be long term but only address a very immediate need with a one-time grant, providing a breath of support in the midst of this pandemic.

The deadline for application is June 30, 2020.
