Deacon Michelle Angalet grew up in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. She settled in the South in 1988, first in South Carolina then in Woodstock, GA (metro Atlanta), where she and her family have lived since 1996.
She was rostered as an Associate in Ministry in the ELCA in 2006. Her first call was to Good Shepherd, Woodstock, GA where she served from 2006-2012. In late 2012 she was called to serve as an assistant to the bishop in the Southeastern Synod. Prior to her current call she served as a member of the Synod Council and was a Book of Faith Advocate in the Southeastern Synod. She also served as a voting member of the 2011 and 2013 Churchwide Assemblies. Currently she serves as the Southeastern Synod’s representative on the Lutheran Services of Georgia Board of Directors.
Prior to serving in the ELCA, Deacon Angalet worked in hospital administration and as a registered nurse. She earned a BBA degree from Marshall University, Huntington, WV, a BSN degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC and an MBA from The Citadel, Charleston, SC. She completed her seminary coursework through the Lutheran Theological Center in Atlanta/Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA.
She is married to Mike and they have three young adult children.
